In this memoir, fragments of past and present reveal how events in my daughter’s childhood mysteriously mirror events in my own childhood, before I turned 17, when my mother died. Layers of memories and flashbacks blend with the present in ways that spark new insights about what we reveal and conceal in our families. The story unfolds in a storm of complex, arbitrary, and contradictory perceptions of time—then and now—that inevitably change how we live our future.
